Tarp sizes can range from 5' x 7' to 170' x 170' and even above. The size of a tarp more often than not corresponds with the use.  Typically, large tarps such as baseball infield covers are used for athletic field covering for football fields, soccer fields, baseball fields.

The large tarps are also seen used for industrial uses such as oil and you factoring and excavation companies. Landscape companies also use the large tarps for pond liners and water retention.

Smaller tarps are often used by consumers to cover items such as patio furniture, boats, or barbecues. Many tarp users repurpose small tarps for creative applications, ranging from drainage systems to decorative fixtures. Artists frequently purchase tarps for art installations and various home design projects.

Depending on the application when tarps reach a size of 100' x 100' and above it is essential to make sure they have handles for maneuvering the large piece of material.

Certain size tarps are traditionally used for specific applications like canopy covers which come in the below sizes:

10' x 12'  - 12' x 20'  - 12' x 30'  - 14' x 20'  - 18' x 20'  - 20' x 20'  - 22' x 20' - 20' x 30'  - 20' x 40'

The above size tarps are the most common sizes for canopy frames with a high peak.

Specialized large type sizes such as baseball infield covers and athletic field coverage are:

100' x 100' - 120' x 120' - 150' x 150' - 160' x 160' - 170' x 170'

The above size tarps are mainly of the polyethylene variety are meant only to be used for it's specifically stated use; so "Baseball tarps" should only be used on baseball fields.  These large tarps shown above should have handles manufactured along the perimeter of the tarp with a double stitch reinforcement.
